The Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) for the Cordova Oil Spill Response Facility was issued in December 2006. The public comment period closed on January 29, 2007. A total of 54 comment letters were received, and considered in development of the Record of Decision (ROD).
The ROD was signed by Carl Artman, Assistant Secretary - Indian Affairs, U.S. Department of the Interior, on November 27, 2007. The ROD identifies the selected alternative for the project as Alternative 4A, consisting of a fill dock design at Shepard Point, with Road Alignment Option 3, also termed the Inland Alternate Route. The ROD provides details on the basis of the decision for the selected alternative, the alternatives considered, management considerations, mitigation and commitments, and public involvement.
